Mid Autumn Festival Gala

    The Howard County Chinese Cultural Center is hosting the "Hope with Feathers" Mid-Autumn Festival Gala and Food Fair on September 28, 2024, at the Jim Rouse Theater in Columbia. This event celebrates the harvest, family, and friendship, featuring performances like singing, dancing, and instrumental music.

    Before the show, enjoy a food fair with handmade Mid-Autumn Festival treats like mooncakes, rice dumplings, and pastries. You can also experience traditional Chinese culture with a Hanfu dress-up and photo opportunity. The food fair runs from 4:30-6:45 pm (no ticket needed), and the show starts at 7:00 pm (tickets required).

    Howard Chinese Cultural Center will host the 2023 mid-autumn celebration concert, which will cover Chinese traditional and popular music,

    performance, dances, and more by Prominent Community Arts Groups.

  • 2022

    The Harvey Chinese Cultural Center will present the "Wings of Hope" Harvey Golden Autumn Talent Show on November 5, 2022. This event marks a special occasion, as it has been over three years since the first "Cloud Kai Pandemic" virtual gathering, which was held in response to the onset of the pandemic in 2020.

    Now, as we come together in person during the golden autumn season, this talent show offers an opportunity to express gratitude for the harvest, celebrate reunions, and rekindle the warmth of family and friendship. Hosted at Slayton House, the event will showcase the diverse talents of the community in a joyful atmosphere of togetherness and reflection.

Multicultural Music Festival and AAPI Month Celebration

    The "East Meets West" concert brings together GRAMMY-winning American Roots artists Cathy Fink & Marcy Marxer and Chinese yangqin master Chao Tian. Blending Chinese, Appalachian, and global music traditions, they create a unique and captivating musical experience. This collaboration highlights the power of music to bridge cultures and connect people.

This event promises to be a vibrant celebration of diverse musical traditions, showcasing the rich cultural heritage that both Eastern and Western music have to offer.

2026 Howard Dance Winners Showcase Harmony

The 2026 Howard Dance Winners’ Showcase, presented by the Howard County Chinese Cultural Center (H4C), celebrates cultural diversity and collaboration through dance. Selected works will perform on June 13, 2026 at the Jim Rouse Theater in Howard County.

Who Can Apply

Open to all dancers and dance groups. All styles are welcome, including ethnic and folk, ballet, modern, jazz, street, Latin, fusion, and innovative dance forms.
Works should reflect the theme “Harmony,” showing balance and connection across people, cultures, nature, or dance styles.

Performance Guidelines

  • Maximum length: 4 minutes

  • Formats accepted: Solo, duet, trio, quartet, and group

  • Group works are encouraged and given priority

Registration, Fees & Submission (All-in-One)

  • Deadline: March 15, 2026 (late or incomplete submissions will not be considered)

  • Notification of selection: April 30, 2026

Fees (non-refundable registration):

  • Individual works (4 or fewer dancers): $5 per person

  • Group works (more than 4 dancers): $25 per group

Selected works only will pay a performance fee of approximately $35–$100 per dance, based on production needs. All fees support professional stage setup and performance services.

Required Materials:

  • One full rehearsal video

  • One 30-second highlight video

Selection & Awards

Works are reviewed by the Organizing Committee based on theme alignment, artistry, stage presence, choreography, and collaboration. Group works receive priority consideration. The Committee may adjust performance order, length, or format.

The showcase will include Audience Choice Awards, selected through live audience voting.

On October 4, 2025, the Howard County Chinese Cultural Center (H4C) and the Howard County Chinese School hosted their first-ever China Day, replacing the long-running Mid-Autumn Festival. Dedicated volunteers created an afternoon filled with traditional food, crafts, games, and performances, celebrating the rich culture of the Tang Dynasty. Highlights included the Tang Role-Play Adventure, trivia-based Tang Culture Exhibition, costume photo booth, food fair, craft market, and stage performances. Volunteers arrived early to set up and kept the event running smoothly, helping hundreds of visitors enjoy what H4C described as an “incredible and immersive cultural time-travel experience.”
